This lesser-traveled route offers a rare look at daily Andean life – shepherds in the fields, weavers at their looms, waterfalls, lagoons, and soaring peaks. After three days of trekking and nights under Andean skies, you’ll board the train to Aguas Calientes and finish your adventure with a guided visit to Machu Picchu.
Itinerary – DAY 1: Cusco – Lares – Quishuarani
- Pickup at your hotel in Cusco (after breakfast at your hotel)
- Transport to Lares, including stop in Calca
- Breakfast & thermal baths at Lares Hot Springs
- Transport to Cuncani to start the trek
- Trek (2.5 hours), including Pacchayocc waterfall, Willkikasa Pass & lunch stop
- Dinner at campsite
- Early night’s rest at Quishuarani campsite
Itinerary – DAY 2: Quishuarani – Cancha Cancha
- Breakfast at campsite
- Trek to Condor Pass and the highest point of the valley, then descend to Cancha Cancha (6-7 hours)
- Lunch at Cancha Cancha
- Explore the traditional Andean village of Cancha Cancha, including interaction with local families
- Dinner at campsite
- Early night’s rest at campsite
Itinerary – DAY 3: Cancha Cancha – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
- Early breakfast at campsite
- Descent to town of Huaran (3.5 hours)
- Lunch in Huaran
- Transport to Ollantaytambo
- Train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes (without guide)
- Dinner in Aguas Calientes
- Early night’s rest at a hotel in Aguas Calientes (guide will coordinate with you on the time to meet the next morning)
Itinerary – DAY 4: Machu Picchu
- Breakfast provided by your Aguas Calientes hotel
- Pick-up at your Aguas Calientes hotel to take bus up to Machu Picchu
- Tour of Machu Picchu
- Bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes
- Lunch at a restaurant of your choice in Aguas Calientes (not included in price)
- Train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo (without guide)
- Transport from Ollantaytambo to your hotel in Cusco (without guide)
- Drop-off at your Cusco hotel
