When tourists think of Lima, they usually think of Miraflores, which is an upscale tourist neighborhood that’s safe to walk around and has plenty to see and do within walking distance. One of the top things to do in Miraflores is visit Larcomar, an open-air mall on a cliff that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. No matter where you stay in the area, you’ll be able to find Parque Kennedy of Miraflores, Peru (or the Parque Central de Miraflores), and Larcomar is only 7 blocks away from there (head toward the ocean) with cute souvenir shops along the way.
The entrance area to the mall is a well-maintained park worth stopping by for photos. You can also follow the boardwalk along in either direction away from Larcomar for more picturesque parks and ocean views. Not only will you see the ocean over the railing, but there are often surfers and people paragliding in the area as well. In fact, only 10 minutes north along the boardwalk is the Parque del Amor (Park of Love) inspired by Parc Guell in Barcelona. Here, you’ll find a famous statue called El Beso (The Kiss), depicting the Peruvian sculptor himself (Victor Delfin) and his wife kissing.
How to Get from Lima Airport to Miraflores and Larcomar
If you’re going straight to Larcomar from the airport, you can take a taxi or an Uber (click here for more details on how to get to Miraflores from the Lima airport). What I love about this drive is that the taxi driver will usually take you along the Costa Verde (Green Coast) for more amazing views on the way to the mall.

With modern architecture having opened relatively recently in 1998, Larcomar itself is currently one of the main malls in Lima offering a wide variety of things for you to do:
- Shop at high-end stores
- Snack or have meals at one of the upscale restaurants or in the food court
- Watch a movie at the movie theatre
- Work out at the gym
- Pick up groceries at Wong, a national supermarket chain
- Take photos with the Pacific Ocean in the background
